You should have your heating appliance inspected annually to make sure it is in proper working order. Another trick is to get a programmable thermostat. You can set the temperature you want and the heat will shut off when the desired temperature is reached. Don't set the thermostat for higher than necessary in an attempt to heat your home quickly, it doesn't work and costs you more money.

There are plenty of ways to get home heating oil price savings. By insulating your home, sealing up all your leaks and cracks, only heating the necessary spaces and not using fans, you can reduce your costs. You may also want to use a space heater in your home to reduce your dependency on oil heat. Space heaters are affordable and come in different varieties including convection and ceramic. Using a space heater in conjunction with your oil heat can potentially reduce your heating costs also.
