Synthetic materials can be created to avoid shedding and reduce the growth of bacteria on the filter. This leads to cleaner, more sanitary air and prevents stray fibers from getting stuck in HVAC coils or being released into the air. Another clear benefit is that synthetic materials can be made to give an electrostatic charge which increases the capability of the filter and makes it more effective.

Proper filtration is an important part of energy efficiency. With a good filter, you get cleaner air and more efficient heat. With the rising costs of fuel every little bit helps when heating your home. You can find a non-woven synthetic medium efficiency pleated filter most anywhere home improvement supplies are sold. You might want to check at your local hardware store or superstore such as Home Depot or Lowes.
